Pilot – This is an excellent trip for those who want to be part of the pioneering of this ministry. All team participants have the opportunity to apply to become team leaders after this trip. Team leaders have the privilege of taking teams to any number of third world countries using the Awake framework. This trip is appropriate for: Individuals, groups, etc. who can handle long bumpy rides and learning from impoverished communities and orphaned children in challenging living conditions. Age requirements: Mature 13 year olds and over with a parent, 18 and over without. Ask for our Considerations for Children document if you’re not sure about bringing children. *Note: The ability to use sign language is a plus but it is not required to attend this trip. Simply come with a continued openness to learn more about love!
Each team member will fly from his/her home airport and will meet up as a team at either the Fort Lauderdale or Miami International Airport where the group will then travel together for the international portion of the trip to Haiti.
When the team arrives in Port au Prince, Haiti, they will head to the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base in St. Marc. to spend the first night of their trip. Sunday, they will worship at the base. After the service and lunch, the team will begin their weekly visits and learn from those in orphanages, remote villages, nearby communities.
The team will be able to share the love of Jesus through ministry activities, but mostly from spending time learning from the poorest of the poor. Before heading out to learn, every morning the team will share a devotional/worship time with each other. Each night, the team will have opportunity to discuss/pray for one another and debrief what they have learned and experienced with the Awake framework for help debriefing what you have seen, heard, felt, experienced, etc. Please take some time and ask the Lord if you would like to be a part of this exciting trip, learning, serving and ministering to the people in rural Haiti!

I understand that these communications are needed to maximize the effectiveness of my team on the mission field, to prepare each person for the trip and to build team unity. Awake Ministries encourages our team members to raise support. Once you are signed up for a trip, you can fundraise with prints from the Awake Portfolio.
When Awake moves from non-profit to official charity (God-willing!), you and your donors can soon make tax deductible payments toward your trip total by mailing checks to Awake Ministries or paying online
and indicating your name in the Preference Designation portion of our donate page.
Another thing that sets Awake Ministries trips apart is that we book ALL flights for all of our team members, including your domestic connections from your home airport. Please list your home airport on your application. For smaller airports, please give several options for airports you could fly from, as sometimes our international airline partners may not have options in and out of smaller airports. Please note: because we will be booking all of your flights and connections and because we do so at the best possible price – this does not always mean the best possible schedule. Many times, the international airlines we use are able to offer us domestic flight connections at a very low cost (usually only $75-$100) and therefore, we are offered a very limited class of service. This might mean longer layover times so please be prepared for this in advance. You may find a better schedule online but that doesn’t mean that it was an option within the price range and class of service we were going for. If you have specific limitations on arrival and departure times, you will need to let us know in writing 90 days or more in advance and you will need to be prepared to incur additional costs if your preferences do not fall within the class of service we are offered at the lowest cost.
